課程概述

The course is designed to help students sharpen their writing skills and, more importantly, (re)discover the joy of writing. To quote from the great writer Stephen King, ‘Writing isn’t about making money, getting famous, getting dates, getting laid, or making friends….In the end, it’s about enriching the lives of those who will read your work, and enriching your own life as well. It’s about getting up, getting well, and getting over. Getting happy, okay? Getting happy’ (On Writing, 269).
The sessions in this semester will focus on the following areas: (1) how to enjoy writing (we will start from sentences, and then to paragraphs); (2) how to write correctly, clearly and fluently; (3) how to read for writing.
◎Please note that most sessions of this course will be taught in English.

課程目標
It is hoped that students will be motivated to write paragraphs on various topics, and be able to achieve clarify and correctness in writing.
課程要求
(1) Attendance: Students who are absent (i.e. no-show without advanced notices to the instructor) for more than 10 hours in this semester will be flunked (max. 59 points).

(2) Punctuality: late attendance for more than 30 minutes with no prior notice to the instructor will be regarded as absence.
